Summers at John Winthrop

Join us for summer fun and discovery!

The John Winthrop School summer program features two-week sessions of fun, exploration, and discovery! Sessions start the Monday after Watermelon Day and run for five two-week sessions. Enrollment is offered for individual sessions, five days a week from 8:15-11:45 or 8:15-3:00. An extended day 5:30 pick-up time will be offered if there is sufficient interest and staffing.

There are two classrooms. The preschool group is for children ages 2.9 through 5, and the toddler group is for 2- to 3-year-olds. Program highlights include:

Experienced Teaching Staff

Young children will benefit from the continuous care of our school year teachers. Our faculty is comprised of well-educated professionals who are celebrated for their knowledge in development and the individual relationships they build with children and families during the school year. All of our teachers are CPR and First Aid Certified.

Daily Outdoor Water Play

Outdoor play is an essential component to a child's growth and development. In the summer it can get hot! We offer well supervised outdoor water play at least once a day.

Developmentally Appropriate

John Winthrop’s program emphasizes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Classroom activities encourage language development, emerging academic skills, creativity, imagination, the expression of feelings, and the development of conflict resolution skills.

Comfortable Facilities

Our spacious, air-conditioned classrooms provide students with a comfortable play space no matter the temperature outdoors.

Gross Motor Playroom

This summer we are dedicating one of our air conditioned classrooms to gross motor play where teachers will construct activities to support your child’s physical and cognitive development in an active and playful way.

Special Events

Every day is a celebration at John Winthrop School! Join us for special events each session such as Pajama Day, Fun Food Friday, Chefs in Training cooking projects, sing-alongs, special guests, and so much more!

Creative Drama

Ever wanted to jump inside your favorite story or go on an amazing adventure of your own design? In our drama room children will use their bodies, voices, and imaginations to explore fantastic environments and invent incredible characters.

Neighborhood Outings

Throughout the summer children will have opportunities to explore their local community and all it has to offer. Teachers will plan excursions that coordinate with curriculum plans to enhance children’s understanding of material.

Enrollment

Registration for children currently enrolled at the John Winthrop School. Enrollment will be offered to incoming children and community families as space is available.
