The Importance of Block Play

JWS classrooms and outdoor environments are designed to encourage authentic learning experiences where children have the opportunity to participate daily in extended block play. Block play provides children with opportunities to explore and experiment with physics and math concepts, as well as develop skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Teachers introduce and develop these concepts utilizing ideas and play initiated by the children to create meaningful, relevant, and lasting learning experiences.
